Home Birth

Birthing in the comfort of your own home is the perfect location to welcome your new baby. We provide quality care and patience.  We believe birth works best when you feel safe and have minimal disruptions allowing you and your baby to find your own unique rhythm.

Birthing Center Birth

The Oasis Birthing Center is a boutique birthing center located in Arroyo Grande. It has been carefully curated as a single family birthing suite designed specifically to honor the sanctity of birth. We have intentionally created the Oasis to be your home away from home.

Holistic Prenatal Care

Prenatal visits last 45-60 minutes and occur monthly until 28 weeks, bi-weeky until 36 weeks and then weekly until your baby is born. Visits will be held in the comfort of our cozy office in San Luis Obispo or our Birthing Center Suite in Arroyo Grande.

Postpartum Care

We will stay with you for 2-3 hours after birth to make sure both you and baby are stable.  We clean up the birth space so that bonding with your baby in your arms is the primary focus for your family. We will support your breastfeeding journey, monitor the growth of your baby and make sure you are getting the support you need and make appropriate referrals when necessary.  We will provide 2 home visits in the first week, and then visits at 3 and 6 weeks postpartum at our office.

Newborn Care

We encourage skin to skin contact on moms chest for at least the first hour so baby can find the breast on their own.  We offer breastfeeding support.  A complete newborn exam will be given within the first few hours of birth where we make sure that baby looks healthy and we will provide weight and measurements at this time.  This exam is always done right next to the new parents and is an exciting time for the family.

Water Birth, VBAC

We do offer Water Birth and the use of a birth tub. Water can be used during labor to aide in relaxation, and if you choose to birth in the water you can do that too!  You have the choice to listen to your body and push your baby out wherever you want!

Research has shown that vaginal birth is a safe option for many women who have previously had a cesarean.

Well-Woman Care

As a Licensed Midwife, I can provide all basic Well-Woman care including pregnancy testing, paps, breast exams, birth control information, labs, confidential STD testing.  We focus on being gentle and encourage you to ask questions.  This is a great way to establish a relationship with a midwife should you need one in the future.

Informed Choice

We believe in Informed Choice, which means that we will give you options in regards to diagnostic testing and treatments, explain the details, benefits and risks of each and then we will support you in making the best choice for you and your family.  It has been shown that when women are made to feel empowered and are given a choice in all aspects of their care, they are more satisfied with the outcome of their experience.
